April Smith is proud to say she was born and raised in the Bronx, New York. She graduated from the Bronx High School of Science, and Boston University cum laude and With Distinction in Creative Writing. She holds a Master’s Degree in Creative Writing from Stanford University.
April is one of few women to work successfully and continuously as an Emmy-nominated writer-producer in television while also publishing literary novels of suspense. She attributes this stamina to swimming, weight-training, hiking, yoga, meditation, and Trader Joe’s 2% Greek yogurt.
She has been more than abundantly blessed with two wonderful children -- a son in college and a daughter in high school -- and a loving husband, Douglas Brayfield, a psychotherapist. They live together (mostly) in a 1922 Dutch cottage in Santa Monica with a Cardigan Welsh corgi, a rescue French bulldog-terrier mix, a rescue Abyssinian cat, and a bearded dragon named Spike.
