     April was extremely fortunate to land her first television staff job on Lou Grant, a drama about a daily newspaper, the most respected series of its time. She learned how to break stories, do research and write dramatic dialogue from the best in the business: Gene Reynolds, Allan Burns and Seth Freeman, generous teachers to whom she owes enormous gratitude. The show had an integrity yet to be duplicated, and dominated the all the major awards.
